Last week I lost my favorite uterus pin, which miraculously showed up attached to a bulletin board near my office a few days later. This really has nothing to do with the episode, but I thought the picture was cool and we needed a place to start this week’s note. But maybe I can thread the needle and relate it to some of the every day miracles patients experience as they travel for abortion care.

This week’s episode focuses on 2 additional organizations working on the myriad of logistical challenges folks face when they travel for care. And just like my uterus pin, they are a bright spot when people are facing care.

We talk with Mike Bonanza from Elevated Access - a non-profit made up of volunteer pilots donating their time to fly patients from ban states to access states in order to receive abortion or gender affirming care. Mike’s interview was really fun, enlightening and he does give us answer about whether or not Jonas can land the plane.

We also talk with Amanda Rich from Faith Roots Reproductive Action. They are an abortion fund and practical support organization, helping folks with a variety of logistical needs as they travel for care.

Both of these interviews were incredibly inspiring and remind us of the everyday heroes that are working hard to make access to care possible. If you are inspired to give - we encourage you to make a donation to one of these groups or perhaps a local abortion fund in your own community. A monthly donation can ensure that these groups have reliable funds to continue supporting those who need it.

The other milestone of note is that we reached 75,000 downloads last week! Thanks for being dedicated listeners and supporters of the podcast. We are grateful for your support.

Just like Jonas promised - here are some links to some of my favorite abortion swag and some abortion funds that could use your support. These sites all fund patients in states where abortion has been banned or severely restricted

Some of my favorite t-shirts have come from this awesome WV fund - Holler Health Justice including this fantastic “Preserve Abortion Rights” design. I also just saw a new design that says “Deck the hollers” - Genius! Adding that to my Christmas wish list.

Mountain Access Brigade has great merch too. Including a “Yeehaw F*** the law” t-shirt. The perfect gift for all the lawyers in your life. This fund supports folks in Tennessee.

The Texas Equal Access Fund (Tea Fund) supports folks in Texas who need care and they have a fantastic shop.

Have a great holiday, y’all! We’ll be back with new episodes in 2026. We have some great interviews for you to look forward to.
