Hi Outlawed fans and friends,

We are in the midst of interviews and production for the second season of the podcast and wanted to catch you all up on our plans and give you a few things to listen to while you wait for new episodes. So what have we been up to the past few months?

We recorded an amazing live episode at Temple Sinai in DC with Rev Katey Zeh and Rabbi Hannah Goldstein and talked about faith and abortion. This will be one of the first episodes in the second season. While you are waiting, check out Katey’s book: A complicated choice: Making space for grief and healing in the pro-choice movement. I won’t spoil it for you, but this conversation was amazing, mind-opening, and thoughtful.

What else do we have on tap for season 2? We’ll continue having conversations with patients, clinicians, experts, and researchers. One of those folks is Renee Bracey Sherman - storyteller and founder of WeTestify. She also co-authored a recent book - Liberating Abortion: Claiming Our History, Sharing Our Stories, and Building the Reproductive Future We Deserve. I highly recommend reading her book - she talks history of abortion, storytelling, and abortion-splaining.

Here are a few other related podcasts we have enjoyed to check out while you are waiting for season 2:

  • The A-files: A secret history of abortion by Renee Bracey Sherman and Regina Mahone.

  • Season 2 of the retrievals is all about c-section pain.

  • I also just learned about this new podcast - Green Tide Rising - about the Green Wave movement in Latin America. Check out their amazing work!

Also - you can look forward to some new photos for the show thanks to Kristen Hammock. Spoiler alert: the pictures are freaking phenomenal! Special thanks to Dr. Newton Pleasant for wardrobe support.

Thanks for reading Outlawed’s Substack! This post is public so feel free to share it.
