Summer is here and if you live in the South - the hot, humid weather might have you feeling a little sluggish. We’re taking some vacation and trying to escape to cooler weather, sporting our new Outlawed hats. Shoutout to one of our Outlawed fan club members for gifting us these sweet, sweet hats!
We’ve been releasing a few of our favorite episodes from Season 1. Longtime followers of the podcast may recall that our first few episodes had weird volume issues. Good news is that on re-release that seems to be remedied! Check out these 2 gems from season 1:
Why do these episodes stand out? Episode 1 from season 1 will always be near and dear to our hearts. We saw the creative vision of our co-creator Jane Marie come alive. One of my favorite parts of the episode was how she layered the inane 72-hour state-mandated counseling that all of our patients have to endure. You also get to meet our clinic nurse extraordinaire, Sally, who shares how abortion ban impact the patients we serve.
Episode 3 takes us to Texas, where SB8 was enacted in 2021. This brought the first wave of extreme bans into people’s lives. We see how doctors and patients grapple with how restrictions force patients to seek care out of state or force them to continue pregnancies. We talk with both a high-risk OB physician and a patient who was forced to flee the state for care.

In exciting news… We’ve started recording interviews for Season 3! We’re planning to start the season off with a series about IUD’s and pain. Both of us have research interests in understanding and improving patient pain. We talk to some amazing experts about the pain experience and are excited to share those stories this Fall.
