Dear Friends of Outlawed,
We are very excited that launch day is finally here! We have 2 full episodes coming your way (links below).
The first episode comes from a live recording we did in the Spring at Temple Sinai in DC with a rabbi, a reverend, and two abortion doctors. It’s the perfect set up for a joke, right? While we did laugh a lot, it was mostly a beautiful conversation with two very thoughtful religious leaders about faith and abortion with Rabbi Hannah Goldstein and Rev Katey Zeh.
One of my favorite parts of the conversation was when Rev Katey Zeh reflected on a Christian scripture about a woman who reached out to Jesus for healing and she was the catalyst for her health, breaking the rules at the time to get what she wanted and needed for her life. If you have a chance you should check out Katey’s book “A complicated choice: making space for grief and healing in the pro-choice movement.” You should also check out abortionswelcome.org - this is a project that RCRC (Religious Communities for Reproductive Choice) is working on. It serves as a resource for patients seeking spiritual guidance.

We released not one, but TWO, episodes today! The second is an excellent conversation with Asha Dahya, an Emmy-nominated producer, writer, TEDx speaker and storyteller, about her podcast “Green Tide Rising” - a podcast that dives into the green wave movement in Latin America. There are many parallels between abortion restrictions in central and Latin America and post-Roe America. We talk about the green wave movement, having difficult conversations, and the short documentary she produced called Someone you know, about people who need abortion care later in pregnancy. Check out the Green Tide Rising series after you listen to this episode!

Our plan is to release a new episode every 2 weeks (until our funding runs dry!). We’re excited to share these conversations about medication abortion science, abortion storytelling, biology of pregnancy, the evidence about listening and conversation, along with many other topics.
